Am looking for ancestors of John Alexander Walding from Dale County Alabama who was born in 1834. His father is presumably from North Carolina but don't know his full name other than John.

Samuel Walden(Walding)

Am also searching for parents of Samuel Walding b. 1832 in Dale Co, Alabama married Nancy Rogers, d/o James and Susan Rogers. James's father is possibly Nathan Rogers of Washington Co, Georgia. My ancestor Samuel Walden(Walding) was in Jefferson Co, GA in 1799, 1820, 1840 and in Johnston Co, NC in 1800, Dale Co, AL 1830. Some of Samuel's sons lived in Washington Co, Ga, a neighbor to Jefferson. There must be some connection. There is also a Wayne County Tax List, near Johnston Co NC that shows a Benjamin Walding and also in Johnston a Deed Book that shows a transfer of land from John Wallin to Alexander Wallin. Any info is appreciated.

I am also a descendent of Sam Walding. His son, (Jim) James Walding was my great grand father. I have little information and I'm interested in searching beyond Sam and Nancy.

I don't have Jim (James) as a son of Samuel Walden. This Samuel located in Georgia in 1792. He was born about 1728-38 (no proven record of birth). This Samuel only named three sons in 1809 Will in Jefferson County, GA. They were Harry Walden, Reuben Walden and Samuel Walden, Jr. There is no record who this Samuel, Sr. married.

I believe now after extensive research that your Samuel Walding may be somehow connected to my "Georgia" Waldens but I have not made the connection yet.

I connected your Samuel Walding with a neighbor in Jefferson County, GA Nathan Powell, to my Samuel from deed transfer records but have not found any other connection. I have later found records where the Walding's allowed "their friends" the "Walden's" to transact business for them in Alabama, and NC in deed transfers since they had moved.

There was a James Walden in Warren County and then Jefferson County, both in Georgia that married Rebecca Sammons. Just from memory this James was born around the early 1800's. I was under the impression that this James Walden in Georgia was the son of Henry Walden (this is a personal conclusion and I have no proof but only based on census dates/dob shown on census records).

Thank you for your reply. The Sam Walding I'm looking for is (Sam) William Walding, born 1832 in Alamba. He married Nancy Rogers. This Sam joined the Confederate Army May 5, 1855. I am trying to locate his parents.

I'm also a Walding descendent and related to the Waldings from Dale County. I understand this is where Samuel was from. There are at least 2 Waldings that could be his parents, who were living in that area at the time. I'm descended down from John Alexander Walding Sr. and all his children are accounted for. However, he had two brothers that we know of. Benjamin Franklin Walding and Lemuel. We have Benjamin with three children, Saeborn, John C. and Benjamin Valentine. He may have had many more children. I'm sure he did. But we know not who they are. Perhaps Samuel is one of them. Lemuel had three children we know of as well, perhaps more, the ages of these children fall in the same time period as your Samuel. The Three that I know of are Lemuel Jr., Green, and Francis. Maybe this may help. I live less than 30 minutes away from Dale Co. If you need anything in this area that I may help you with, just let me know

I have Green Walden and Lemuel Walden as sons of Reuben Walden who lived in Jefferson County, Georgia Will made Jan 7, 1845 and probated in Heard Co, GA. Green was named but Lemuel was not. I have never been sure of Lemuel because of the will but Reuben's father, Samuel Walden, Sr. who came to Georgia and lived in Jefferson County by late 1700's named Lemuel as his grandson in a will in Jefferson Co, Ga in 1809.

What documents do you have that prove Lemuel was a brother to John Alexander Walding and Green.

I have many more children for Lemuel besides Green Walden, Lemuel Walden, Jr. and Frances.

This is the lineage I have:

Lemuel Walden b. c 1832 Hawkinsville, Pulaski Co, GA D 7 Nov 1899 Franklin Co, FL married 9 Jan 1855 Gadsden Co, FL Lucretia Floyd 2) 1 Jan 1850 Pulaski Co, GA Nancy Jane Pope buried Carrabelle, Franklin Co, FL

Children: John C. Walden, Eugenia Walden, L. J. Walden, and Margaret C. Walden

The children I show for Reuben Walden b 1760/65 are:

Green Walden b c1789 d1859; Alley Lee Walden b c 1793: Martin Walden b c 1791; Charles Walden bc 1814 (not positive about this one) may belong under brother of Reuben named Henry or his son Henry, Jr.; Lemuel Walden b. c 1796.

The only reason Lemuel is listed in my lineage is because he was named in his Grandfather, Samuel's will and the only Lemuel born earlier then 1809 when the will was made that I can find.

Do you have a tree posted for the three brothers you mentioned and/or documents to prove this Lemuel is related to your line that will help me rule out or add to my existing family.
