There are a "lot" of O'Malley's in the Westport area. In the 1800's they were known as Malley. They are in the civil parish's of Oughaval and Aghagower. The heritage center in Ballinrobe may be able to help.

Saw your posting, and wondering how I would contact this research center? I too, am looking for a Sarah O'Malley, who lived in Westport, Mayo County, Ireland, married a Michael Henry Walsh. They both lived and died there. Time span being early 1800's to mid. I am having trouble finding any records, church, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

I have info on a number of O'Malley Medical men from the 1800s. I do not recognise your William and Mary. If you have further information (do have any dates or learn anything since you poated the message) perhaps we could exchange. The O.Malleys I am looking at at present are those arising in Kilmilkin Co Mayo (I am connected with another branch also)

Thank you for answering. I have very little information on
Doctor William O'Malley. The name is spelled Maley or
Meally on some of his daughters' records.
His middle name may have been Patrick. I have no
location other than the County Mayo. None
of the family records mentions any town.
Since they left Ireland around 1842-1846 there would be
no record of this William O'Malley after that time in Ireland.

The oldest child whose name has been located, Mary O'Malley Giltrap was born about 1819 in Ireland. She
married Laurence Giltrap about 1850. They both died in Audrain County, Missouri in 1902. Laurence Giltrap was born in Ireland in 1820.
So, Dr. O'Malley must have been born before 1800.
His son, Thomas O'Malley was born in 1830. He died in
1907 in Illinois after farming in Missouri.
A daughter, Ellen A. O'Malley Clines was born about 1834.She married Mathew Clines in Iowa. Ellen died in
1881 in Montgomery County, Missouri. Matthew Clines
was also from Ireland.
The last daughter I have information on is described in the
original post. Anna O'Malley [January 1834-April 1924]. She
married Patrick Gibbons in 1857 in Iowa.
I know this does not give more information on William or
Mary Walsh O'Malley but it is all the information I have
found on that generation. The only church that was in
existance in Geneva, Ontario, New York when they came
to the USA IN 1842 does not have a record of the family.

Thanks for answering the message.
