I have been searching this surname from New Orleans for a few years now. Jean David Lazier immigrated to New Orleans from Santo Domingo, and while keeping that name also assumed the name Jean Louis Desarzans, (his mother's maiden name) it appears he may have been from a region called Gossen? or Donneloye? How or when he went to Santo Domingo, I don't know, but he left there somtime after the revolts and went to New Orleans, first stopping in St Yago, Cuba in 1809. If you any information about this name or any of his decendants I'd really appreciate the help! He was married to a Helena Sigovie

Short response to your question:
J. David Laizer(Juan Leizer)-native of Gossens in Switzerland
Born 2 February 1775
Died 14 October 1850, Buried St. Louis Cemetary No. 2
Son of Nicolas Leizer and Margarita Desarzen

Helene(Elena) Sigovia(Segovia) (Spouse of J.D. Laizer)(Married Mar 15, 1808 in St Louis Cathedral )
Died 7 November 1832 at age 40, buried St. Louis Cemetary
Daughter of Don Alfonso Segovia, Catherine(Catalina) Lambert—Married Feb 6, 1777 in Saint Louis Cathedral. Note: Don Alfonso Segovia previously married to Maria Francisca Butin ( Boten) in 1767 but she died?? Don Alfonso Segovia and Catherine had another daughter—Maria Ysabel born 3 August 1785, baptized 21 November 1785. The name of Catherine was spelled “Lamber” in the record rather than Lambert. The names of the sponsors are interesting—Geronimo Andres Enorment and Ysabel Lill.

WOW!!!!! if no one has told you lately you are wonderful!!! This has given more data that I can say! I'm just a little concerned about the marriage date however, I have the manfest of the brigadeer Davis where Jean David, alias Jean Louis Desarzens came to New Orleans in 1809, maybe he came earlier and went back to Santo Domingo for something? More research needed! Thank you again, and if I can ever help you please let me know!
