CHarles--my gggrandmother was Elizabeth Taylor who was married to George Brooks in Buncombe Co. They had 18 children-my great grandmother was MaryAnn Brooks who married Daniel Wilson from Buncombe Co. I suspect that Elizabeth and your Robert Taylor were from the same family and that the Brooks family may be the same--send me an e-mail if you think there is a connection--I have a lot of information on their line and a tintype of Elizabeth. I am searching for a Vatura Taylor Thomas, who had a daughter Eliza Thomas that married Joseph Justus. I noticed these surnames on your Buncombe Cty query. Hopefully there is a connection. Vatura had a sister by the name of Elizabeth. Would appreciate e-mail if any of these people may be of the same line. Thank you in advance.

My Elizabeth Thomas, b. 1792 d. 1852, wife of John Justus, Jr., Esquire b. 1/1/1782 d. 1/16/1842, was daughter of James Thomas and Mary ? of Newberry, SC. Hopefully, Vatura may be her brother.

I do not have Joseph Justus in my data.

Thank you for your response!

Charles-I just found this forum again after a yr-I have not been on the computer much this yr due to illness and the death of my mother-i just sent you another post then found this note My Elizabeth Taylor was born in 1818 or Feb 23, 1819 and died Jan 10, 1893 in Buncombe Co. Her husband George was born Dec 15, 1804 and died Oct 14, 1874 according to the info I found on Family Tree Vol 5, tree 2117 and research my late aunt did many yrs ago. The Brooks evidently owned land that was sold to make the Biltmore estate-George's father was supposed to be Sam Brooks-hope we can figure out this puzzle-karen

Charlie-sorry to take so long to answer--The Margaret A you have listed as 9 yrs old in 1850 would be Mary Ann born in 1841 -the names and ages of the other children match . My info has George Brooks father as Sam Brooks and that he and his wife Elizabeth are buried in the Brooks cemetary at Beaverdam Loop in Candler. I think you are probably right on the relationships-I''ll let you know if I get more information-kc
