I have a number of relatives that lived/died in Barton, but I can't find it on a map (just an empty hywy) and Google give nothing. What's the story of Barton, Ascension?

I also found it is just a hwy. now. We went there looking for any sign of the town but found none. My mom was born on St. Emma Plantation near Barton as her birth certificate says and remember her talking about Barton but now nothing is left.

If you want to know where Barton was, try Mapquest. I've found that they still have a lot of the old town names listed, including Barton. I live in St. Rose, St. Charles Parish, but Mapquest shows us as living in Frellsen which hasn't existed for at least 50 years.

My family is from that area. St. Emma is across the street from our property. There are a few families that live along HWY 943. It is now legally considered 'Donaldsonville".
