As of this morning, I have found out that Louisa Cooley
is probably my gg-Grandmother. I found my G-grandfather, James Rufas Sanders listed on the 1850
Census for Fayette County, Tn. some time ago but the
census only showed his mother Louisa, and other siblings. Finally this morning I found a marriage bond
record for James R. Sanders and Louisa Cooley in
Franklin County NC dated 13 Dec. 1825. A James Sanders appears on the 1840 census for Fayette County Tn but of course it only shows head-of-household but based on the age/sex groups shown,
it appears that this is my gg-grandfather and Louisa is
I knew that my g-grandfather was James Rufas Sanders b-3/28/1847--- d-10/4/1921 in Tipton county, Tn. and married to Nancy Amanda Caldwell of Alabama (dau. of John H. Caldwell and Annie Catharine Agnew).
James R. Sanders must have died sometime between
the birth of my g-grandad in 1847, and the 1850 census so I cound not be sure of his name.
I would love to find out more about this side of the family so any information that I can get would be appreciated. My grandmother Sanders said that there
my be some Indian blood in the family and would love to be able to verify this.
