Hoping to find someone through this query would would be willing and able to locate a obituary for Walter Arthur PETTENGILL who died in Jan 1970 (specific day unknown) and one for his wife, Bessie L. (LYON) who died on 14 May 1979 in Cortland, Cortland County, NY.

Parents' names unknown for Walter (b. 9 Apr 1887) but Bessie was born on 30 Jan 1895 to Frank Pierce Lyon and Laura Lucenia WALKER.

Walter and Bessie lived in a variety of places including Binghamton (Broome County), Cortland and also DeRuyter (Madison County).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm willing to pay a reasonable fee for this request.

If you look into 1880 census you will also see Walters grandmother living with the family. Her name was Vurdurnia
born abot 1810 in NYS.

I did not come across the obits yet but if you check into

you will see many articles about the Pettengill family.His bbrother Leslie obit.Visiting his sick mother. Lots of traveling.

Mentioned Harriet as the mother so I looked into 1892 census. William and Harriet Pettengill were Walters parents.

WALTER PETTENGILL
CORTLAND - Walter A.
Pettengill, 82, of 140 Grot
Ave., died Saturday evening
at Binghamton.
Services will be at 3 p.m.
Tuesday at the Bush Funeral
Home. Burial will be in Union
Valley Cemetery.
There will be no calling
hours.
Mr. Pettengill is survived
by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Lyon
Pettengill; a niece and a
nephew.
He was born at Woodstock
and came here 18 years ago
from DeRuyter. He was a
World War I veteran and a
member of the Cortland American Legion.
