Am looking for information concerning the
Garbers who founded the community of Garber,
Missouri, just outside Branson. It is
just west of Branson. Grandfather Joseph
J. Garber was born in 1873 in Branson..
Father Ray (NMI) Garber was born 1902 in
Branson. Does anyone have info about the
Garbers of Branson, Mo? (A daughter of
Joseph lives in Missouri today.)

daniel, have you found out anything else about the garbers that you inquired about in previous post.
I am the doughter of vern ernest garber, who was the son of Jacob garber . This Jacob garber was 'supposedly born in Mount Joy, lancaster pa. in 1864 and married Elizabeth Dinnah Babb
his 'Jacob's father was Henry Garber, mother was Mary Benter.
I will verify these items in a few weeks and repost any corrections.

Sandra,
I have an Elizabeth Dinnah Babb, born 12 April 1873, in Red Oak, Montgomery County Iowa to William Babb and Wilhelmina Cox.

Is this your Elizabeth?

Her sister, Martha Ellen Babb is my great grandmother.

Thank you.

This fits with what my dad told me. The Eva listed in the 1880 census could very well be Hettie - her age would be right, compared with the information I have. Also, it fits with my dad's memory of what my grandfather told him about Hettie having brothers Ben, and George. My dad said that Hettie had other siblings but he didn't know all of their names, except he mentioned one named Frank(?), who is not listed on this census. Also, I remember that a lot of people called my grandfather (Joel Cosgrove Hines b. 1890 ) by his middle name, or "Cos". He was one of Hettie's sons from her first marriage with Horatio S. Hines. I wonder if they did that in conversation to distinguish him from Hettie's father, also named Joel???
Thanks again for the info.
Gary
