Hi Everyone, first I'm Ted Johnson and I share ancestry with my cousin Janet in Daytona.
I'm looking for any info on our GGG Grandmother Catherine, b. abt 1793 who married Nathan Johnson, b. 1791.
They probably married in the Bahamas before 1816, they had 4 known children, Henry Baker, b. 1816, Martha Elizabeth, b. 1819, William Gardner, b. 1821 and Thomas Johnson b. 1824.
I am looking for a marriage entry and most importantly maiden name of Catherine.
Nathan's first marriage was to Martha Witty (m. April 6, 1811, per Groom & Bride Index for Bahamas Papers 1784-1821, d. 1814) children? Nathan leaves Bahamas briefly around Sept of 1814 after the death of Martha, may have gone to Canada since the War of 1812 was still going on in US. I think it ended around Dec 1815.
Catherine was his 2nd marriage
Mary Ann Curry was his third (m. June 6, 1837 , Eleuthera Island, per the Dolly Mae CD
Any info on Catherine or her family is greatly appreciated.
Also looking for the Elizabeth Albury connection, possibly married Nathans son Thomas Johnson about 1869 and had 3 children. Thomas Johnson, b. 1824 first married Charlotte Bethel, b. 1830, m. abt. 1847 and had 3 children. Just saw an entry in my McAleer book page 19 saying Thomas Johnson probably born 1824 to Nathan and Catherine Johnson, but on page 21 of same book it says Charlotte Bethel Johnson widow of Thomas Johnson married Edward Russell and they had 9 children and moved to Key West in 1873.
Also looking for a connection between Thomas Johnson, his son William Eldridge Johnson, b. 1850 moved to Port Orange, FL in 1867 and Thomas Eldridge and brother Elam Eldridge mentioned in the Charles Howe Key West and Mystic, CT letters.

Hi Ted Im just starting on this era of my family in the Bahamas. After years of searching I just happend to google my info and up came the info I was looking for of a marriage in 1844. The source was on google books. Its called the Colonial Magazine and Eas India review. Vol 2 edited by Peter Lund Simmonds and William Henry Giles Kinston. There are several volumes but basically it appears to be summeries of reports and news from British Colonies. Hope this helps. Its been a gold mine for me!

Hi Patsy,
I really appreciate the lead. I've been at this for a while and one never knows where or when a good source will pop up. I had not heard of Colonial Magazine but will look into it. I did find Nathan Johnsons first marriage to Martha Witty (m. April 6, 1811, per Groom & Bride Index for Bahamas Papers 1784-1821, d. 1814) I ordered it from England. But still having trouble finding his marriage to Catherine and her maiden name.
many thanks
Ted Johnson
