Maurice:

I have been working on genealogy for a little while now and noticed you were looking for Dora Techau Albert Dahn. Dora was my great great aunt, but I don't have much information on her. Her sister also married a Dahn, but I will have to bring my information from home. Please feel free to e-mail me at work to let me know what information we might be able to exchange.
Thank you.

My father-in-law is Robert Albert Dayne. He was born Albert Dayne but later changed it to Robert. His father was Max (Maximillion) Dayne and was married to Clara Gönne. I was also told by my father-in-law that they used to spell it with an "H" but changed it to make it sound more american. It also had a "von" in front of it (von Dahn). My father-in-law was born in NY in 1911. He had a sister named Dorothy.

I am researching my ggmother, Dora Techau
who married Henry Hinkhouse in Muscatine Co,
IA and they were both from Germany. He from
Hannover area and she from Holtein area. Any

Cindy:

I don't really have any information on her, do you know who her parents were? All of my information is at home that I do have, but let me know if you know anything else about her and I will bring what little information I have and try to respond again soon.

Dora Techau was married to Fred "Henry Hinkhouse
from Mucatine Co, IA. Is this the same Dora
Techau that you have listed? Her parents
came from Germany and she died in 1912 in
Woodbury Co, IA.

I am not sure if we are talking about the same Dora Techau or not - her parents did come from Germany (Fred and Doris Techau), they were my great great grandparents. They lived in Cedar County, Iowa, and are buried there. I only know that they had a daughter named Dora and in one of the obituaries her last name was Dahn - it is possible that she was married more than once. As soon as I get a chance to go to the genealogy library I will try to find some information about her - I will follow the lead that you gave me and see where it takes us. Thanks so much and please let me know if there is any further information that you have.

Hi Lisa.
Sorry to be so late getting back to you. We may have a connection. Albert and Dora Dahn were my grandparents; they settled in Iowa from Germany. They spent their last years in a small town, Lisbon, Iowa.
