Surnames: Wadkins/Watkins
Searching for relatives of Francis (Fanny) Garmany. Died in Cherokee County Alabama in 1923 at age 93. She married one Strauder/Strander Wadkins in 1869 and they had one son John Bailey Wadkins who married Mary Jane Wilkerson... They also had one other son that was either born blind or with one eye. John Bailey Wadkins and Mary Jane Wilkerson had eight children, Louise,Beatrice,Willie,Jessie,Milton,Roy,Dooley, and Buster Loyd. Strander/Strauder Wadkins is believed to have died in Sugar Valley, Georgia and believed to have died from injuries sustained from a fight. This was most likely over moonshining, gambling etc. Strander/Strauder Wadkins was known for riding with outlaws and quite a scoundrel. Please email me if there is a connection. The areas are Sugar Valley, Georgia, Cherokee County, Alabama and at some point early in his life, Tenn. Please email me at: rmnj@hiwaay.net

I have lots of Garmany's in my lineage, most of which were in Cherokee County, Alabama. They came from Ireland, to Newberry, South Carolina, then made their way thru Georgia and finally settled in Alabama.
I'm sure there is a connection somewhere, but I don't have a Francis who married a Wadkins. You can e-mail me at patti@pattispromise.com. I'm been working on this lineage for about a year so far.

The Francis that you speak about, does she have a sister, Matha or Mary? I think this is the same linage as mine.

I have some information on this group before 1830's and alot from then to the present.

I live in the Armuchee ga area, which is not far from Sugar Valley.

Do you have a time frame for when Francis would have lived in the Tenn area? I have been looking for her brother William's marriage to Susan Jane Jones, who was a full blood Cherokee. I have pictures of her, and William but nothing further back.

Look forward to hearing from all with any lineage.

Karen

I'd be very interested in seeing your information -- I'm trying to research the Garmany family, and the father's line just ends three steps back! My Garmanys come from the Illinois area, and are Danny Phillip and his father Francis J. "Jack."

Here I am in 2010 and you wrote about your family of Garmany coming from Ireland to Newberry, SC. Do you have a tree.? That is where my line ends, in Newberry. They are listed as John Garmany Sr. and Jr. John Sr. was married to a Mary G.

I'm from a line of Garmanys' born in Newberry County, Newberry, SC. They later went to and were buried in Cherokee Alabama. Don't know if this helps any.
