My Grandmother was Terasa Scanio. Her mother was Carolina LoPresti who died when my grandmother was young. Terasa's father was Simone Scanio, he stayed in Italy and remarried. Terasa was born June 2,1890 in Roccapalumba,Palermo,Sicily. She came to America with some Frank Fricano to meet her brother, Salvatore Scanio who was married to Rosita or Rosalie Fricano who was Frank's sister. Teresa married Rosari Michel (Micelli?). Terasa and Rosario had 6 children, Mary (my Mother) Murphy, Simon(Simonie), Carolina(Corrine) Josephine ( Josie) and Salvadore (Savy). Terasa also had an older sister Laura whom everyone called Cosima she married Antony Ditcharo. I think Terasa also had a uncle named Nino "Anthony" Scanio. Terasa died in 1975. They all settled in Marrero, Jefferson Parish, La. Which is across the river from New Orleans and called the West Bank.
Salvatore and Rosalie had a son named Simon Scanio who would have had Fricano relatives. Simon was closer to his Aunt Terasa's (my grandmother) age.

We are related some sort of way. My father told me his cousins owned a produce company across the river, their name was Scanio. I think that is how you spell the name. My father was Sam Junda. My email is wdeckwa@cox.net
