I am researching my family name again. I started and then got stumped. My great-grandfathers' name was Francis Marion Huskey and I place him in Carter County, Mo. in 1810. I need information as to where he was before then and any other information on him if anyone has it. Thanks in advance.

Terry,
For your information, there is NO Carter County, Missouri in 1810. Only Huskey and allied families resided within the state of Missouri during 1810 is Peter Huskey Jr. who married Mollie Miller and his families in St. Louis County (later Jefferson County, Missouri). This Peter Jr. is sister of my maternal ancestress, Martha Huskey who married William Ogle and lived/died in Sevier County, Tennessee. Let me know if you want any help in finding your lineage for Francis Marion Huskey.

By the way! Are you sure that Francis Marion Huskey was born in 1810? If so, then what record did you find for Francis Marion Huskey's birth year. Let me know.

Donald you seem to know a lot about the Huskeys in Missouri. I was wondering if maybe you could give me some info on mine. I know my ggrandmothers name was Nancy Huskey. I have grandfathers death certificate. His father they tell me was Francis Off(eoff). Have you ever come accross these names. My grandfather William Jasper Huskey was born in 1865 in Morris Mill Missouri. In the census I found Nancy with husband Francis in 1860 in Jefferson County Missouri.Nothing after that. Can you maybe shed any light on this.

My parents were Cecil Edgar and Eva Lee Huskey. Both are deceased so I can't get information from them. Most of my older relatives can't remember specifics so that is no help either. I believe we may be talking about the same Fraancis Marion Huskey. He was listed in the 1910 census for Carter County in southern Missouri. I will take all information you wish to send to me. I really appreciate any information that you send to me. Thaanks in advance.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, LOL. I mistyped the date. It should have read 1910, NOT 1810.

I stumbled across your messages on Ancestry.com. I am trying to chase down my Huskey family. My grandfather was Francis Marion Huskey who was married to Nettie Whaley. I believe my greatgrandfather was Andrew Jackson Huskey but have been unable to find any info on him. If you are who I think you are, then you are my cousin. My Email is KnightonDL@aol.com

I am descended from Nancy Huskey, b. 1812 in Missouri, but am unable to find her parents. She married Noah Harlow in 1836 and may have had an earlier marriage.

I have Jonathon Huskey and Jane as her parents. I have no documentation. This is extracted from the notes of Don Reagan.

From 'Illinois Census Returns' by Margaret Cross Norton, Jonathan Huskey appeared in the 1818 and 1820 lists. Both lists reveal that there was one white male - 21 years and upward, and five other whites in his family plus two servants or slaves.

There are numerous deeds for Jonathan Huskey and his wife, Jane, in Union County, Illinois. The deeds indicated that he owned large amounts of land in the town of Jonesboro, Illinois. (The dates of the deeds ranged from 10 Oct 1817 to 14 Aug 1826.)

Just about 1826, Jonathan Huskey and his family migrated to Jefferson County, Missouri. They are listed in the 1830 Federal Census of Jefferson County, Missouri. He had two boys still at home - one born 1800/10 and other born 1810/15.

Jonathan Huskey and his wife are believed to be buried in Jefferson County, Missouri.

Nancy Huskey and Noah B.Harlow M.3 Nov.1836 - This marriage was not recorded at Jefferson Co.Mo.,

-they may have been married at Monroe Co.,Ill. Nancys father was one of the earliest settlers of Jeff.Co.,Mo. ,Lived where Windsor Harbor now is .

- Noah B.Harlow was son of Silvanus Harlow and Ruth Ward ,both natives of Maine where Noah was also born . They came to "American Bottoms" ,Kaskaskia ,Ill. in1818 and moved to Harrisonville ,Monroe Co.,Ill. where Noahs and Nancys children were born.

Maybe this can give you some leads to research on.

I really don't have any more info on this line of the family.

Jonathan is the son of Peter Huskey, Jr. and Mary "Mollie" Miller
