My father's mother, Effie Niccum was born in Toledo, Il in 1898. I have traced her ancestery back to a Peter Niccum who was born in Germancy around 1715. It appears that he got married in Maryland around 1739. If I am correct, Peter had a son, Michael, who had a son, Michael. This Michael had a son, Stephen. Stephen's son, Charles, was my grandmother's father. I would appreciate any information that you might have about Peter.

Good morning Karen,
I too, have information on Peter Nickum, his son Michael, Sr, and their origins in Germany. The records that I have indicate that Peter married Anna Maria Sanger in Germany in 1745. Apparently Peter immigrated to America in 1739 along with his brother Frederich, then returned to the Palatine region and married, before returning to America in1749 with his parents and another brother, Nickel. (Note that some records will record these brothers as Johan Peter, Johan Nickel, ........... It was common at that time to have the same first name and to be known by one's middle name. Spellings of names, including surnames will also vary.) Please let me know what additional information you want.
John

I know you posted this a long time ago but, I just found it. My ex brother-in-law's name was Archie Calvin Niccum but was born in the 30's. I have a feeling that they must be related. My sister was married to him and they had a daughter named Deborah Rochelle. She passed away a few years ago. She lived in Parkville, MO. Nick (as he was called when he was young) and his wife, Lindi, live in Kansas. I think somewhere around Gardner. I would appreciate a reply if you see this.
Thanks,
Yvonne

Hello John,

I know it's been a while since you posted this message, but I'm hoping you will stumble on this and get in touch!

I have a Peter Nickum b. 1785 in Maryland m. Patsy Brummit in Kentucky in 1800. I am wondering if my Peter is the son or grandson of your Peter. If you have any more information on this family, I would appreciate any info you could share!

Good evening "Kennedha".
Well, I "stumbled" on to your note. The Peter Nickum that was born in Maryland in 1785 was the grandson of my Peter Nickum. Your Peter was the son of my g,g,great grandfather Michael Nickum and his wife, Susannah. I have quite a bit of additional information about the Nickum/Niccum family; thanks in large part to the late John T. Niccum, who was also a descendant of Michael and Susannah Nicum. Let me know what additional information you would like.
John
