William,

Where does your Chapman surname come into play? My ancestors lived in Mercer County, Ohio and my 4x grandfather, John Hall Chapman, was buried in New Corydon, Indiana. I am researching my family and found your message here. Thanks for any reply! Kim

Thanks for the info. I don't know if they tie in yet with mine, but will let you know if I find a connection. It seems to me that with the over-and-back between Jay IN and Mercer OH counties families, there has to be one somewhere.

According to my records, Charlotte A. Noll was the mother of Mary Euphemia Glentzer. Here's the information I have:

John Andrew Glentzer (b. 23 Sep 1832 Ohio / d. 21 Mar 1909 Kansas) married Charlotte A. Noll (b. 27 Jun 1837 Ohio / d. 18 Aug 1872 Jay Co., IN) on 18 Sep 1853. They had nine children. The last child, a baby boy, was born 8 Jul 1872, and died 17 Aug 1872. Charlotte died the next day, and she and her baby are buried in the same coffin in Limberlost Cemetery. After Charlotte died, John took his children and moved to Kansas. He later married a lady named Anna (unknown last name), they had five children, and Anna died on 12 Nov 1888 in Thayer, Kansas. After Anna died, John married Lucia (unknown last name) about 1890. That marriage ended in divorce.

John Andrew Glentzer was the son of John A. Glentzer (b. 4 Nov 1793 in Berks Co., PA / d. 4 Feb 1871 in Adams Co., IN) and John's second wife, Nancy Ann Dager (b. 1784 in Miami Co., OH / d. 27 Jul 1862 in Adams Co., IN). I don't have any information on Charlotte Noll's parents.

Mary Eupemia Glentzer was the third child of John and Charlotte. Mary was born 1858 in Jay Co., IN, married William Chapman on 28 Mar 1877 in New Mexico, and she died in 1923 in Kansas.

I'm sorry I don't have any other information on the Chapman line, but I hope the information on the Glentzer side has been helpful.

I saw an archived tread that I can't seem to track down now, anyway I found you here. It seemed like you were looking for a William Chapman, buried in Wabash Twp Jay Co Indiana, "sons" Uriah & William. Sounds like William Chapman born 8 Jun 1766, Norwich Ct. This works very well if the date on the stone is 90y 9m 20d. The 28 days may even be right if the date of birth I have is actually a baptism date. He moved to the frontier in NE PA with his parents Uriah and Sibel Cook, in 1773. He is mentioned in his father's will in 1808, but that's the last I know of him for sure. It would be great to know where he finally ended up. The names William and Uriah appear often in this line. Almost all of Uriah and Sibel's children went west after his death in 1816. Let me know if this is news or if you want additiional info.

As stated in my post, it is my belief that William Chapman, born 1810 in PA is probably the son of William Chapman, born in Norwich Ct in 1766. There is a great converstation thread that led me to this conclusion in the archives. The postings suggested to me that this is very likely although certainly not proved. The thread is located at http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/INJAY/2003-07/105712053...

I hope this helps. I have a ton of info regarding William's father Uriah and his move to PA prior to the revolution. Let me know if you are interested or if you can't find the above mentioned thread. If anyone else out there is chasing down this line please let me know.
