Mrs. Bard appears in the Confederate Pension file of Upton Hays as a daughter of Upton's wife, Annie Hays b. abt. 1859 OH. She and her brother, George Hayes, both asked for the final payment of the widow's pension to cover their mother's funeral expenses. Annie Hays lived in Quapaw and Peoria, Ottawa Co., OK and died at her son's home in Joplin, Jasper Co., MO. According to the file, Annie and Upton Hays were married in 1881, Lamar, Jasper Co., MO in 1881.

I saw your message and decided to add the following. C.O.Bard is infact Claud O. Bard b.Sep 1889 in Missouri, His mother was Mattie C. Bard b.12-21-1870 Illnois, d.2-11-1945 Calif. He had a brother Bonnie "Buck" Bard b.1891 in Missouri and a sister Frankie T. Bard b.Jan 1894 Missourri d.11-1-1934 in Joplin, Missouri. Frankie was married to my wife's grandfather Francis H. Smith in 1910. I have found only one weak reference to his father. It is possibly Max L. Bard, not sure. Hope this helps, Harold
