Looking for family connections, parentage of Joseph C.(Chatten?)Reynolds b. 1793, d. 1868 in Muhlenberg Co. The 1850/60 census records indicate Joseph was born in GA. Apparently Joseph married Mary Fortney Reynolds, a daughter of Richard David Reynolds of Henry Co. VA, who was an early Muhlenberg settler. Trying to possibly connect Joseph to my Hopkins Co. Reynolds (Thomas, Benjamin, Aaron)who migrated from Wilkes/Oglethorpe Cos. GA by 1807.

Also would like to know more about the Joseph Reynolds of the 1810 Muhlenberg Co. census. Wife was perhaps Frances; Joseph C. Reynolds was the guardian of orphans of Joseph Reynolds acc. to Muhlenberg Co. Wills and Administrations.

Interested in hearing from anyone who has researched this family line. Thanks.

A postscript to my old post...Joseph Chatten Reynolds does appear to be the son of Joseph and Frances Reynolds who were in Muhlenberg in 1810, Hopkins in 1820, and to the Jackson Purchase area by 1822. Joseph Reynolds Sr. died in 1822 in Hickman Co KY; his estate appraisal and settlement appear in Hickman Co. Will Books. Joseph C. Reynolds was among the estate's administrators. This family was in Wilkes/Oglethorpe Co. GA where Joseph Reynolds appears in estate papers of Richard Reynolds. Joseph Chatten Reynolds was born in GA, not North Carolina, as indicated in Otto Rothert's History of Muhlenberg Co.
