I am trying to trace descendants of Thomas Manley born in Co Durham england abt 1865 emigrated to new york about 1908, he had lived in liverpool and was a coach driver/chauffeur, he was supposed to send for his family but never made contact again

You can find a likely Thomas Manley immigrating in 1908 at www.ellisisland.org He was going to a friend, Mr. Martin.

In the 1910 census, there is a Thomas Manly,age 46, living in Manhattan as a boarder. His occupation was a Chauffer for the New York Taxi Co. I couldn't find him after that.

There are New York death records here, but there are several Thomas Manley's.

thank you so much for the information on Thomas Manley, it certainly sounds like the right person,the only information we had that he had got a job out there with a taxi company,sadly my greatgrandmother[his wife]died suddenly in 1910,so we think thats why he never sent for the children and they never heard again.
