Looking for further information and possible descendents of
Matthew Ignatius Thornton Cassidy who graduated from Glasgow University and registered as a surgeon on the 14 April 1909.

Matthew entered public service in 1910 and was appointed District Medical Officer for the parish of Vere in Jamaica on 20th February 1913. In 1915/ 1916 he was on active service in the Great War with the R.A.M.C as a Lieutentant and then Captain. As of the 4th April 1919 he had retained the rank of Captain. The last entry in the 1938 Medical Register gives his address as C/O Health Office, Accra Gold Coast which is now Ghana.

His wife was Marie Cassidy nee Beard also a medical graduate of Glasgow University. She was born in Surrey but her family were from the West Indies. She returned there in 1911 and married Matthew sometime after her return.

Matthew Cassidy was my grandfather who died before I was born. His son, my father, Charles Desmond Thornton Cassidy, died in Nairobi in 1983, where he was a practising lawyer. I would be interested in the tree that you have prepared.
