Thank you for your response. The arrivals to Ellis Island was known to me, and were my GGM and her 6 children.
However my GGF and his eldest daughter, my GM traveled earlier to the US and I have been unable to locate their travel records. They were:
Janos Sorak, born 1864, Nagy-Mihaly
Maria Sorak, born 1889, Nagy-Mihaly
I would appreciate your help in locating possible records on their crossing.
Ken

You're welcome Ken.
When did Janos and Maria SORAK come to America?

I don't have a subscription to Ancestry to help look for them possibly arriving thru Canada, Baltimore, Boston, or Philadelphia.

Szorak, Janos 30 1862 1892 [2 years older than your ancestor]

Most of the time the early manifests don't provide much information and you already know that they were born in Nagymihaly aka Michalovce, Slovakia.

Thank you.
The information I have is that Janos and Maria traveled to the US in 1903 or 1904. I do subscribe to Ancestry, but still haven't located them.

You're welcome.
You tried with one step/gold form www.stevemorse.org
The first letter of the surname could have been transcribed as a L or T or even F.
Is the information reliable that you received about the ancestors coming in 1903 or194? Is it from a document like a naturalization intent & petition or word of mouth from a family member?

Family history is that Janos and oldest daughter Maria arrived before the rest of the family, who arrived in November 1904. Also story was of Maria being age 14 years when arrived. Also the 1930 U.S. Census states Maria, now Mary arrived in 1903. Mary was married in Olean on 19 Feb 1908. I found no Naturalization documents.

Thank you for further information about your ancestor's arrival.
Is Maria's [Mary] arrival year same in 1920 and 1910 census?
Since she was underage than she did travel with either her father Janos or another family member. The 1930 census does not have a notation Na-naturalized; Al-alien or Pa-first paper for your ancestor?

Was the surname always SOROK/SORAK and never SOROKAC^?

I turned every which way with www.stevemorse.org and nothing.

Mary Sorak married John Czmar in Olean, N.Y. Feb 1908. Daughter Anna Czmar born in Detroit, MI Mar 1909. Family returned to Olean, NY by 1910 Census.
The 1910 Census family name remained Sorok (Sorak), Mary's maiden name.No immigration or naturalization information was given for Mary, but father John immigrated in 1903.
By 1920 Census the Cmar family name Americanized to Smar and the Sorak name became Sorg.
The 1920 Census gives Mary's immigration as 1887 (before she was born.) She was naturalized in 1918. Born 1889.
The 1930 Census notes immigration as 1903, was naturalized, and age agreed with 1889.
Sorry for the length of this reply, but wanted you to have complete information available to me. In short, I assume Maria and father Janos Sorak (Sorok) immigrated together 1903 (1904), but I cannot locate records. Thus my request for help.
