I am asking for a look up of Ida Unroe's birth certificate. Specifically, I would like to know the name of her biological father. Ida was born in Virginia between 1900-1904. Her mother was Madgie (also called Maggie) Unroe. I don't have a lot of specific information about Ida, but I'm hoping that there's a way to do a search using her name and state. Please help!

They are in the 1910 US Census in Clifton district, Alleghany county , Virginia.

Looks like Donald is Ida's grandfather. Since her mother Madge still had her maiden name, maybe she was never married. This makes it rough. I suggest you see if VA and that county had Bastardty Bonds. This is where a woman had a child out of wedlock, they had to put up a bond to help support the child if they were not able to do so. In this bond, either they put up money or they named the biological father.

Alan, thanks for your help! I've been told by a member of the family that Ida's (and her brother Tommy's) father was a boarder. I don't think it's Howard Gregory though, since he would be too young. Would it be possible for you to tell me what the census records from 1900 (closer to Ida's birth) show for that family? I'm hoping to discover who was a boarder there at that time. I know that Madgie's parents were Lewis and Ginnie (or Jennie) Unroe, if that helps. Again, thank you for all of your help! I was very excited to see the response.
