The St. Joseph and Denver became or was absorbed by the St. Joseph and
Grand Island before 1909. Today the line is part of the Union Pacific.
To find a little more about the SJ&D/SJ&GI look in a history of the
Union Pacific or of railroads in Kansas and Nebraska.
The SJ&GI ran between Saint Joseph and Grand Island NE and in 1910 ran a
passenger train from Grand Island to Kansas City. Fro Saint Jo to KC
the train seems to be joint service wit the Chicago Great Western and
ran over the Santa Fe and the Quincy, Omaha and Kansas City.
Finding more about the suit against the railroad is going to be
difficult. As the general offices of the SJ&GI were in Saint Joseph, I
would think the SJ&D offices were there also and that is where a suit
would have been filed. You mightg o to the County Courthouse and ask where old
court records are kept.
