James Benjamin Delk Sr., 77, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002.
A native of LaGrange, Mr. Delk was a son of the late Benjamin Holliman Delk and Dera Foster Delk. He was a retired automobile salesman and a U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was of the Lutheran faith.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors by Rabun County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 15 and Habersham County American Legion Post 84.
Survivors include his wife, Laverne Wilbanks Delk; 10 daughters, Melody Koppe, Palmetto, Trina Heath, Sharpsburg, Wendy Sheffield, Jonesboro, Melissa Markle, Marietta, Alison Zubach, Flowery Branch, Tina Parson, Baldwin, Lynn Meyer, Winterville, Hope Blankenship, Cornelia, Marlene McEntyre, Stockbridge, and Brittany Cole, Flovilla; two sons, James Delk Jr., McDonough, and Jeff Martin, Lakeland, Fla.; three sisters, Ruth Hunnicutt, North Carolina, Martha Campbell, Lincolnton, N.C., and Opal Purvis, Thomaston; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Mountaineer Shrine Club, P.O. Box 725, Cornelia, GA 30531.

Funeral services for James B. Delk Sr., 77, of Stockbridge were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home. Burial followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by Rabun County Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 15, and Habersham County American Legion Post 84.

Mr. Delk died Sunday, Dec. 29, at Ports Bridge Hospice in Conyers following an extended illness.

Born in LaGrange on March 4, 1925, he was the son of the late Benjamin Holliman and Dera Foster Delk. He was preceded in death by his brother, Neal Delk.

Mr. Delk was a U.S. Air Force and a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He was a retired automobile salesman and was of the Lutheran faith.
