Where is Barnsboro, PA? I don't find any record of a town named Barnsboro in PA but there is a Barnsboro right across the river from Philadelphia in New Jersey. Could this possibly be Barnsboro, NJ rather than PA?

Ah...could be. Since the poster spelled it: Barnsboro I didn't find that one with the town/county finder but I do know there is a BARNSBORO (spelled that way) just across the river in Gloucester County, NJ. So could be either I guess.

Thanks!

Hi Dianne,
Please let us know more specifically what info you are looking for. You have over 300 posts, so it's too difficult to peruse them to see what you actually already have.
I'm sure you know that "Barnesboro" was in the northern area of Cambria County, PA; and a few years ago it combined with adjacent Spangler to become "Northern Cambria" Borough, PA.
You know there are still FISANIKs in that general area, and the very first hit here on Ancestry when searching nothing but the surname REYBA is:

Thank you for writing.
I know I am searching for much information and putting
the word out everywhere for my searches.
The main surname I have searched for is Feszanycz which was
changed to Fisanich/Fisanick in the USA.
I have met this family when I travelled to PA for the
100 year church anniversary in "Barnsboro".
This is amazing that I found that in the early 1900s this whole family(not the father)went to America from the village
of Czystohorb,a Lemko/Rysyn/Ruthenian village now in Poland.
This is also my family.
I have done a lot of work trying to put together the
information in PA and it is not easy. The spelling of Feszanycz,I have found, has been changed at least 20 times.
But I did determine that Anna Feszanycz was born in 1890
and went to PA along with brothers Fedor,Vasyl, and John.
There may be more but the sons of the original immnigrants
can give me no more information.I know more than they do
and I live in Canada.
I do know that Anna married John Reyba and I think Johns mother was also Anna Reyba. It would be good to find the
family of Anna that married John. I did get the marriage
certificate and also when I was in Poland I did get the correct date of birth from the church records.
There is also a Helen Fisanich born 1860 and died in 1926.
She is buried in the cemetery in" Barnsboro" but no one
knows who she is. There was also a Luke and an Andrew
but I am still working on this search. The archive office
does not write back to me so I will have to go again to
POland and see if I can get more information. However it
is still important to find the family of Anna.(The Reybas)

Since you know the county you really should post on the Cambria County message board. This board is only for queries where you don't know the county or where multiple counties are involved...that is why I asked about the location originally.

Thanks!

Dianne,

Somewhere, sometime, you found an incorrect spelling. The correct spelling , BARNESBORO, comes (I believe) from the BARNES of the Barnes , then Barnes and Tucker coal company.
Barnesboro and Spangler used to be adjacent boroughs. They joined into the present Northern Cambria Borough.
