Ron,
I am just now starting to get into geneology. I had a grandmother that I never got to know, whose maiden name was LaCroix. She had a brother named Larry, who changed his last name from LaCroix to Smith, and was also called Uncle Cap by my mother. I know that any relation or tie in to the LaCroix's from your family to my family would be a long shot, but who knows?! My mother hinted a long time ago about an indirect link to my uncle being a part of an Indian tribe, but didn't go into details. Anyhow, it's fun to check things out as I try to find out about my family's past. I know this is an extreme longshot, but thought it'd be worth the effort in contacting you.

Lewis,
My grandmother was born in Marshall,Mn. Her name was Ellen Lacroix. Her large family moved to Sisseton, S.D.
Her father was Willaim. I believe William was Louis's brother.
I have some information. Perhaps we can swap!
I believe this family may have been Santee Indian? My mother remembers nick names to those you speak of.

Hello Lewis, My children are descended from the LaCroix's out of Veblen, S. D. Their father's family are from the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux - Lake Traverse. Their gr-grandfather was Floyd LaCroix, grandfather-O. D. "Babe" LaCroix. Floyd and family moved to Aberdeen, Grays Harbor County, Washington State in the mid 1930's. This is all we know about their LaCroix ancestors. No one living seems to know anything else. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

This looks like the same Louis LaCroix that is in the roster of Denise Parhay who I am emailing. They appear to match. If this is true then you are related to spotted tail the chief. My husband is one eighth sisseton Wahpeton Tribe. I hope you got your Indian money like the rest of the tribe did last month..the shirttail Indians anyway.I show that Louis had a wife Madeline and 5 siblings who were the kids of RosalieSpotted Tail and Frederic Louis LaCroix. Did you connect with Denise?
