That particular feature if it works as intended will help considerably. I try very hard to not add duplicates but oftentimes they creep in when I don't realize that the Mary that John married after Alice died was also Alice's sister Mary whom I already had under her maiden name.

It really does work! Last night I had one of those things where a "Mary" (spouse with no known last name) turned out to be someone who already was in the tree, so I tried this merge function and it worked perfectly - no need to change things bit by bit, then move the previously saved documentation to the profile that was being kept, etc.
The facts and the documentation all went to the consolidated profile.
