My Gr GR GR GR Grandfather lived in Haywood County and died approx. 1821.... I am looking for any information to support his existence there in Haywood Co... His name was Jeremiah Land... Any help will be greatly appreciated... Thanks, Greg Land

Your Jeremiah Land was in Haywood Co., NC census records for both 1810 and 1820.

1820 Haywood Co., NC - Page 224

JEREMIAH LAND - 1 3 1 0 1 0(males) 3 0 0 1 0

Also in Haywood Co., NC in 1820 census index was William Land, Hozey Land, Joseph Land, James Land, Isac Land, Amey Land and David Land.

1810 Haywood Co., NC - Page 197

JEREMIAH LAND - 4 0 0 1 0 (Males) 0 0 1 0 0

Also in Haywood Co., NC 1810 census index was James Land, David Land and Isaac Land.

Haywood County was formed in 1808 from Buncombe Co., NC. Buncombe had Isaac Land, Archibald Land, James Land and Isaac Land. Macon County was formed in 1828 from Haywood Co., NC. Hosea Land was in Macon Co., NC index for 1830 and Jeremiah Land, age 20-30 with a female age 15-20 were also in Macon Co., NC census for 1830.
Archibald Land, Catherine Land and Isaac Land were all in Haywood Co., NC 1830 index.

Here are Land marriages which took place in Haywood Co., NC.

Aninas Land m. Nancy Kilbay (dau of Henry) on 13 Aug 1831, with John L. Dillard the bondsman and Henry Plott, Jr. the witness.

Hosea Land m. Zipha Thomas (dau of Joseph) on 17 Oct 1810 with H(oliman) Battle the bondsman, Robert Love, Clerk, the witness.

James Land m. Caroline Dunkin on 20 Jan 1842, with Joseph Brendle the bondsman.

Thank you Laura Green for the fantastic information regarding my Gr Gr Gr Gr Grandfather Jeremiah Land. You have really filled in many of the blank spaces and several of the questions I had.

I am glad I could help you. It gives me almost as much satisfaction to help someone else as when I find something for myself.

I have no further info on the Lands, but have lots of resources from NC, as well as living just a mile from a branch of the National Archives with all US census records on microfilm.

Haywood County was formed in 1808 from Buncombe County.
