Anyone who is looking for info on family from Stavanger, Norway, please feel free to contact me. I have a family tree which dates back to 1750 with most of the people residing in Stavanger and other towns in Rogaland county.

Looking for information on Ellinor Henriksen
from Stavanger, Norway. She was born on
May 15, 1905. She has sisters, Astrid and
Berta, a brother Bjarne (deceased), and other
siblings whose names are unknwon to me. She
married Malvin Christensen from Bergen, Norway.
They migrated to the U.S. in the late 20's, I
believe. My father, Thor, was an only child
and was born on May 10, 1931. He died on
February 3, 1971.
We are trying to get information on the remaining
family members in Norway. We would be grateful
for any info!

I'm sorry, but all my records are prior to 1900, and do not include any Henriksen's. You probably already know this, but Ellinor's maiden name would have been her father's first name with a "dotter" added to it. Henriksen was probably her married name. The parish records are a really valuable resource for marriage dates/names and baptism dates/names. My relatives all list Stavanger, Rogaland, Norway; Rogaland being the county. They also list "Cathedral" and St. Peter's, which I assume to be the parish or church where they were baptized.
Wish I could be more help to you - Good Luck! Maren (e-mail

Looking for information on Tysver in Tysver, Norway. They also mentioned a "Forland" Tysver about 20 miles from Haugesund. Not sure if that is a place or not. They were in the area from the early 1800's until 1860's. A few names are Johannes and Ingerborg Sondenaa. Ole, Inger, Lars and Martha Tysver. Any information on this family is greatly appreciated. I didn't think it would be possible to find any information from so long ago.

My great grandfather came to America from Stavanger in the late 1800's or early 1900's. His name was John G. Thompson and his sister was Christina Thompson. Any info that you have would be wonderful.
