Anyone with knowledge of the ports ships left Austria to come to the USA ? Grandfather Fridolin Boesch left Austria 1890-91 and landed in New York or New Jersey.
Can'f find the ship, and would like to have documentation of when he came. Anyone who knows how to trace this please respond. I am told the 1890 records were destroyed by a fire (water damage), in the Archives Room.
Thank you! Dora.

My great grandfather immigrated with a sister as a 5 year-old boy from Germany. His son was William Marshall Grabener (there are variations on the spelling of our family name.) Any info appreciated.

Could not find any files about the emigration of Fridolin Boesch from Lustenau. Try the books:
Filby P.William/Mary K. Meyer: Passenger and Immigration Lists. Index. 10 books, Detroit 1980-1900.
Glazier Ira A./P. William Filby: Germans to America. Lists of Passengers Arriving at U.S.Pots, 1850-1870, Willmington/DE 1988 ff. (this is not your time period, but maybe there are more books for the late 19th Cent.)

Fridolin was one of 16 children of Frdinand Boesch and Josefin Grabher. If you need more information let me know.
Sincerely
Cornelia Albertani

Cornelia......It was great to get the piece of info on Grandpa Fridolin. Yes, we did know that he deserted the Austrian Army as did a whole lot of other young men. Grandpa always said when the officer in charge hit him with the broad side of his sword, he told them "goodbye" and went over the hill to Switzerland, worked there a while to get money for his passage to America and immigrated in 1890. In the book Auswander Aus U.S.A. there is mention of those who deserted the Austrian Army and went to Switzerland. Grandpa was one of many. Thanks for the info. I will send it to Fridolin's son, my father, Ferdinand Boesch. I was just up visiting Dad and helped him celebrate his 97th birthday. I presented him with the Auswanderer book. He was tickled pink with it. Sat right down and began working his way thru the German forward. .I don't know if you are familiar with the book, but it's a beautiful one. Dora

Cheryl.....
I think I answered your email to this query. Am now researching Ferdinand Boesch, brother to my grandfather, Fridolinus Boesch. Ferdinand born about 1867-68, oldest of the living children born to Ferdinand and Josefina Grabher Boesch.
