Looking for information on Jacques Enoul de LIVAUDAIS, born about 1695 at St. Malo, France and settled at New Orleans.

I am particularly interested in sorting out conflicting information between Grace King’s “Creole Families of New Orleans” and “Louisiana: Comprising Sketches of Parishes, Towns, Events, Institutions, and Persons, Arranged in Cyclopedic Form”, vol. 3, pp. 754-755, Alcee Fortier, ed.

Such as was he the Captain of the Port of New Orleans or a naval engineer/Inspector General of the Ports and Harbors of the American Provinces of France? Was he a count?

Does someone have access to the Livaudais genealogy by Alfred Fortune Livaudais of New Orleans?

Lyn,

The records of St Louis Church refer to Jacques as "port captain" or "captain of the port" in almost every baptism or marriage entry involving him or his family.

He died 6 May 1773 and his funeral entry refers to him as "Chevalier of the Royal and Military Order of St Louis, captain of the fleet of the King of France and former captain of the port".

What is the connection between the Livaudais and Beaumont folks of colonial Louisiana. Beaumonts are sometimes refered to as Livaudis? Any information on Jeanne Baudmont Roi Robert died circa 1769 New Orleans--or her children, Francois and Auguste? Information on her first husband Nicolas Roi? Where were they from--what happened to Francois?

Shirley,

I was not able to identify a connection between the Beaumont and Livaudais names in the first 2 volumes of ARCHDIOCESE OF NEW ORLEANS SACRAMENTAL RECORDS. There are baptism records of children of Jeanne's Robert and LeRoy children. Sorry I couldn't help more.

DeLIVAUDAIS/BEAUMONT. My husband is a descendant of Jacques Esnoul and his wife Marie Genevieve Babin de la Somme. The first reference in our files to Beaumont is their child Jean Beaumont Esnoul de Livaudais born 1749.
Does anyone have the date of Jacques and Marie's marriage?
Also need birth and death date of Marie, and her parents.

Jeanne Beaumont married Nicolas Roi or Le Roi--to them were born Francois and Auguste or Augustin, both born in New Orleans. Nicolas died and Jeanne married Bartholomew Robert of Bayou St. John. Jeanne died about 1769. Augustine marries in Pointe Coupee and ends up at the Ouachita Poste where he lived until his death around 1801. I lost track of Francois.
I have seen Jeanne documented as Delery/Delaire, Beaumont and seen some reference to there being a relationship between she and the Livaudais group. Is Esnoul a name or a title--is Livaudais a name or ref. to a location? Any information on Jeanne--her parents appreciated.

BEAUMONT/DE LIVAUDAIS I'm sorry I do not have any information on Jeanne. Jean Beaumont De Livaudais is a male, and he was born 1749. He married Agathe Soniat du Fossat May 18, 1779 in NOLA. My husband's great-grandmother was Emma Beaumont de Livaudais. Her parents were Joachim Beaumont de Livaudais and Lodoiska Gamet. I do not have any Roi or Le Roi in my files. I know that my mother-in-law Delia Poursine Grisamore was good friends with the Delery family but do not know if they were related.
Esnoul is a name and Livaudais is a name. I do not know the origin of the names but my husband might.
