Is anyone familiar with the "Colored YMCA" located in Hopewell? I have an ancestor who was employed there when he registered for the World War I Draft. The draft card says that he was employed as a "stable foreman" for E.I. Dupont DeNamours. His name was Justice Horris Stith from Emporia.

I have seen that listed as well in the WWI draft records.
I would suggest you contact the Appomattox Regional Library 245 East Cawson Steet, Hopewell, Va 23860. Attn: Geneology Dept. There is a lady there who is very much interested in the history of Hopewell and especially the Dupont Days where Hopewell had its beginnings. E-mail me back and I will give you the names of Points of contact.
