I would love to share information with others who are researching Arnell ancestors who emigrated to the USA just before and just after the turn of the century, particularly those from southern Sweden who settled in Tacoma/Seattle Washington. My great grandparents were John and Alida Arnell who came to America in 1888-89.

It's a stretch to say I'm researching, but I am also looking for info on Charles Arnell who emigrated to southern Colorado in the 1870-1880 time frame. The info I have on him is that he was from a town in Sweden called Tharsa, which I have not been able to find. I'd appreciate any info.

Hi, my nephew has done a lot of geneology work on the Arnell name, tracing my grandfather back to Sweden where the name was changed from Jacobson to Arnell some time before they emmigrated to Colorado. The name Swedish version of the name Arnell seems to come from the the Swedish name Arne with the addition of ell to make it a surname.
