Does anyone have links to Edward Corr born
circa 1788 somewhere in Ireland.He had 2 known sons,John b1821 and Henry 1836-they
came to Gateshead UK around 1849. John married Catherine Gorman in 1855 when his son
James was 5 years old. Six generations of
James Corr later-the latest James is my 6
year old nephew. Still unable to locate where
in Ireland they came from. Possibly Armagh/
Coalisland or even Tyrone. Does anybody find
anything in common. Other family names are
MCQUILLAM,MEADOWS,MARNER,GRIFFIN,MACCABE.
Thank you.

My Grandmother,Mary Teresa Corr was born in Athlone,on 2/3/1874 and was baptized at St Peters
in the Elphin Diocese. Her parents were William Corr and Frances Courtney. They later moved to New York City and were there during the 1880's. I do not know if this is any help to you, but I do remember that my grandmother used

to keep in touch with relatives there. Good Luck Dave Murphy

I am also researching my Corr ancestors. I have traced my great great grandfather, William, to Armagh. He had emigrated to Fort Malden, Ontario, with his wife and two children in 1851. I understand they were part of a "pensioner program" where retired soldiers acted as keepers of the fort since it was not strategically important anymore.
I have learned that William also had brothers, Frank was one and I wonder if Edward could have also been a part of this line.
I would be glad to share info if you are interested.

Dear Peggy
My Corr family has Edward born approx 1788 somwhere in Ireland. He came to UK circa late
1849 with his 2 known sons John born 1821 and Henry born 1836. I do not know where in Ireland he came from and he had died by 1859.
I think his wife was called Catherine born 1794, some of the dates are a bit dubious, but I`m hoping someone will recognise them.

Please feel free to contact me via e-mail if you'd like to echange info. There appear to have been several Corrs in County Armagh. Traced my great great grandfather to Tynan, Co. Armagh. He joined the 86th foot battalion and became a pensioner in Amherstburg, Ontaria in his 40's. His wife was Mary Quin. He had brothers John, Francis and Michael I think and his mother we think may have been Catherine though I am still looking. It appears that after William went to Amherstburg(1851), the rest of the family eventually followed.

Any chance of a connection?

Peggy

Doreen, my Grandfather was born in Tyrone around 1880. Came to the states around the turn. Lived in Chicago. He had... I believe 8 siblings. Eugene his youngest brother lived in Athlone until he passed away late 1970's.

Thank you for the information. My Grandfather was born around 1890, but he had 7 or 8 sibs. I met the last living, Eugene
in 1972 in Athlone IR.

Of interest James's oldest daughter is named Mary. She just turned 81. Have a Merry Chrismas.

Cheers,

Michael Corr
