Hi Don,
I believe we have met before when you delivered a Kenmore washer to us. We live in Columbus Ohio.
After reading your message I'm sure yours and my husband's
family of SCHLERETH could be related in some way.Could be descendant from Andreas Schlereth. His great grandfather Joseph was born in 1839 in Bad Kissingen and immigrated from Germany but much later, in 1885. Wife's name was Anna Maria HOFFMAN (maybe HOCHREIN). Joseph's father's name also was Joseph and his wife was Margaret FERRIS. If I remember, you said your ancestors settled in Colorado? His Joseph settled in Minnesota.

Anyway I was curious if you learned anything more about the family in Germany? Unfortunately my husband Eugene does not share my enthusiasim for genealogy. Since 1974 I've been working on my mother's ancestors and it has left little time to trace his.

Regards,
Delores

I realize it's been a while since anyone had been on this thread. But... I am trying to trace the Schlereths below, so if you have anything to add, please do! What I have:

Andreas Schlereth (b. 15 Dec 1809 d. 6 Jun 1885) m. Magdalena (b. 30 Jun 1811 d. 7 Aug 1849). Both were born in Prussia/Preussen or Bavaria, Germany and at some point emigrated to Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. Where they were married is unclear. Andreas is living with Anna/Farana according to the 1860 and 1870 censuses, and widowed in 1880. Magdalena had died by 1849, so Anna is perhaps a second wife?

The children of Andreas and Magdalena are:
Caroline, b. abt 1843 in Ohio
Peter b. abt 1846
Joseph, b. 14 Oct 1848 d. 22 Jan 1925.

Joseph married an unknown woman and had three chidlren:
Elenora b 1874
Andrew b 1876
Margret b 1878 (who had daughter, Loretta Harsh, abt. 1907)

Around 1881, Joseph remarried to Theresa Full Scheiser (b 22 May 1853 in Germany, d. 18 Jan 1923 in Franklin County, Ohio). This second marriage produced three children:
George (b. abt 1882)
Edward (b. abt 1889)
Helen Theresa (b. 21 Jul 1891), who married Charles Ward.

I know nothing about any other Schlereths, but hopefully this helps!

Joseph (son of Andreas) second wife was Theresa Schiesser and I'm trying to find out if Theresa was the sister to my g-grandmother Sophia Schiesser Kaiser who came to Columbus in 1866. Joseph's first wife was Ellenora Eck, they had Ellenora, Andrew J ,Margaret possibly an infant Franz. Joseph and Theresa had George,Oscar,Joseph Jonas,Edward, Irving and Helen. I would love to have any information on the family....Joyce

You were a very big help!!Where did you get the information that Theresa Schieser Schlereth's parents were George and Theresa? The parents of my g-grandmother Sophia Schiesser Kaiser were George and Theresa. This could be the proof I have been looking for to tie Sophia to Theresa and there was another sister Josephine Schiesser who married Jonas Herrmann. This family would be from Wulfershausen, Bavaria Germany.Do you have a picture of Theresa Schlereth?
You have that Andreas was married to Mathilda. On the cemetery records for St. Joseph's where Joseph Schlereth 1848-1925 is buried it lists his father as Andrew and his mother as Veronica and his wife Theresa Schieser. The cemetery records at Mt. Calvary Cemetery states that Joseph Schlereth purchased 12 graves 5/24/1867. In this plot are buried Andreas Schlereth 12/10/1809-6/9/1885 and beside him is Veronika Schlereth 11/13/1807-7/6/1875.On Joseph's death certificate it says his parents were Andrew and Veronica. It seems that Veronica was the wife of Andreas. There was a Mathilda Fuerniss Schlereth 1883-1932 married to Joseph J Schlereth....Joyce

George and Theresa as parents of Theresa Scheiser Schlereth (my g-g-grandma) come from a family tree; I could find records of Theresa and descendants in census but know nothing about George and Theresa.

I think I wrote that Andreas was married to Magdalena; again this is only a name from family records. Census records I found on Andreas also list his wife as "Anna" or "Farana" (hard to read) - this might be your Veronica?
