My maiden name was Slobom. My father was born in Liverpool but his family were originally from Germany. The original surname was Schlobohm.
I would like to hear from anyone who has any connections with this family.
My daughter-in-law is posting this message on my behalf as I am new to computers.

My English isn't so good.

The father (Willi Kurt Schlobohm) of my husband was born (1926) in Horstedt/Germany. He was the youngest son.
His brother Henry (Heinrich?) was teacher in New York?

Sorry, I can't ask himself, he died in Jan. 2000, and about
Henry, I haven't any informations. My search brought me to your message.

Hi,
My Vaters mother´s maiden Name was Schlobohm and 4 Generation Back Michael Schlobohm was from Oberndorf / Oste (Germany 90km away from Hamburg and 40 km away to Cuxhaven)
Nearby there in Assel in 1814 a Dietrich Hinrcih Schlobohm married a Anna Margarethe Jungclaus and a daugther Rebecka Schlobohm born 08/06/01834 married a Johann von Spreckelsen born in Oberndorf (oste) 09.03.1833. They moved 1864 to London (GB)with 5 little children born in Hammelwörden, three other children where born in London (GB) the last one 1874, so at leat they lived there 10 years.
Rebecka SChlobohm died in New York 23.11.1896 and her husband died ten years before in INdianapolis, INdiana USA wityh brain fever and he emigratet 1873 over Boston to Indianapolis.
Rebecka had one brother Johann Hinrich Schlobohm born 18/03/1841 as well as 3 sisters more.
As it is very unusual in German emigration, that in these days they emigratet first nearly 10 years to the UK, maybe a coneccion to the Liverpool SChlobohm is there,
If somebody knows more about SChlobohm conections to northern Germany (Oberndorf / Oste, Assel, Hassbergen please let me know

Hi,

My mothers name was Eveline Slobom, daughter of George Slobom from Liverpool. George was related to Peter Slobom mentioned in other posts. I have put together a tree of most of the Liverpool Sloboms if you are interested. I would be interested to know more of the German connection. My mother and grandad talked about it but didn't know any details. They thought the Sloboms came to Liverpool in connection with sugar refining.

Hi, I just found out my grandfather's mother's maiden name was Schlobohm.
Anna Christiane Marie Schlobohm b. 1860 in Otterndorf-Osterende.
Married Ernst Adolph Nicolaus Bode on 2 Nov 1888
died - 1933 in Otterndorf, name on headstone read Marie Bode.
All I know of her is stories past down that she had no fingers on one hand but still was a seamstress. I know that Otterndorf is in the north part of Germany near Cuxhaven.
Does this correspond with your family tree? Dawn

My father Johann Hinrich had a brother Willi who was born in Horstedt. He was in his thirties in 1954 when I met him so 1926 could be his birthdate. My name is Henry Schlobohm and I am a retired teacher who lives in New York. My grandmother was Anna and Opa was Cord Schlobohm.
