I have info from 1850 census of Taney (now Ozark) cty MO, and 1860 census Ozark cty MO, which lists 3 John Tabor (er) one is son of Archibald Taber and Elizabeth Morris Taber, one is son of Isaac Taber and Matilda Morris Taber, and the other is James Taber and Elizabeth ? these Johns were born MO between 1843 and 1846, The John of Archibald is a brother to Harthwell of my husbands grgrgrandfather. Archibald and Isaacwere b. TN and Elizabeth Morris in GA, and Archibald and Isaacs parents were James Taber and Celia Hall both b. in VA. They all moved to MO in approx 1837-8 from Macoupin cty Illinois. If you think this is your family e-mail me and I can give you a little more info on this family, but not John after 1860 census he must have m. and moved out of cty before 1870 census. Billie, e-mail is gtaber@missouri.goin.org

Hi! Thanks for replying!! I don't have alot to go on yet. I have that John A. Taber was
born in 1844 in Ozark Co.He married Mariah H. Smith Feb. 10,1867 in Pulaski Co. I have
that he was in the 16th Reg of the Missouri
Cavalry from about August 1864 to July 1865.
I have some pension papers that say he lived in Maries Co in 1865,then Pulaski Co. then to Miller Co. in 1868 then back to Pulaski Co in 1872 where I think he stayed until at least 1893. He died June 4,1925 is buried in Summersville,Mo. I have a picture of him Mariah. On his headstone picture it looks like it says Tabor. The only child I know they had was my gr grandmother, Mary Etta who was born July 12,1879. I hope you can tell me more.

Renee, I went back to my info and your John A. is a son of Archibald as I suspected. Archibalds parents were James Tabor and Celia Hall who also came to MO by way of Illinois. John's siblings were: Ceila b. Ill 1823, Hartwell b. 1826 Ill, Isaac 1-1-1828 Ill, Melinda b. 1832 Ill, Jerimiah b. 1835 Ill, Carroll b 1837 Ill, Matilda b. 1840, John A. b 2-10-1843 MO, Dortha b 1845 MO, Elizabeth b. 1849 MO, Nancy b. 1852 MO and Mary b 1854 MO. The children born in Illinois were either Macoupin or Sangamon cty and the MO born were all in Taney cty which later was changed to Ozark cty when it was formed from Taney cty. This pioneering family lived in the Big Creek area where it ran into the White River along the Arkansas border and is now under waters of the lakes. During the war some of families went to Pulaski cty to escape fighting and then after war was over they returned to Ozark cty and many many descendents still live in the are or are buried in Ozark cty cemetaries. My husband Leon is a grgrgrgrandson of Hartwell who was a brother to John A. Taber. Welcome to the family. Most of Archibalds children and grandchildren had big families, so maybe your grgrandmother wasn't an only child. Good luck you may find others who are also part of this family. If you haven't already used it try the gen-forum site. Try the William Taber in Familytreemaker It has 38 double pages if you print off the net. Sir John Tabor also is a good one. Hope have as much fun finding all this as I did. If you would send me your e-mail address, I can give you some more personl info on your Archibald ancestor. Billie
