My grandfather's name was Garth E. Taggart and lived in Richmond, Indiana. He died in 1969 and was my mother's (Barbara Taggart Brown) father. My uncle, Garth H. Taggart, just finished researching the Taggart side of the family and I believe there was an Edward Taggart listed. I will find more info and get back to you. Please feel free to email me. tbcraft@gte.net

Lisa -
My great uncle was Edward Byron Taggart, born Feb.7, 1891 in Indianapolis, IN. He was the youngest of 6 children of Alexander Taggart (born Isle of Man 1844) and Louisa Alice Bell. He died Oct. 3, 1966 in Indianapolis, IN. If you think this is the Edward Taggart you are looking for, let me know.

Dear Bitsy, I do think this is the Edward Taggart I am looking for! Do you have any more information about his occupation, children, marriages etc? Please send them on...I'd very much like to have some information. I do have some, so I'd like more to compare and verify if this is the Edward Taggart I'm looking for! Thanks! Lisa

Dear Lisa -
Edward Byron Taggart married Adelaide Rawls (b. 4/5/1894 and d. 7/28/1974) on May 15, 1917. They had 3 daughters:
Patricia Adelaide Taggart b. 2/2/18
Marion Alice Taggart b. 11/26/21
Nancy Margaret Taggart b. 1/25/24

Patty died 3 years ago today 6/29/97
Nancy died 12/30/93
Marion is still living and I'll probably see her in about 2 or 3 weeks. If you still think my Uncle Ed is the man you're researching, let me know. Good luck.

Dear Bitsy,

Unfortunately now I don't think this is the Edward Taggart I've been looking for. I had thought for so long this was the one. The Edward Taggart I'm looking for was a piano tuner, traveled through Missouri, met Ida Marie Paden, married and had one son, Lee Taggart, my father-in-law. For reasons I'm not sure of, Edward became estranged from the family and left when Lee was a baby. He has never seen him since. His mother has since died and never spoke of him. We do have one picture of him and he was a very tall, well dressed man. Lee thinks he was born in Indiana around the same time your uncle was. Edward and Ida were married in Kansas, started a restaurant in Kansas and Lee was born in Kansas. Ida and Edward may have separated when Lee was three around 1930. I guess I'm stuck here again...what do you suggest? Thank you so much for replying to my email. Sincerely, Lisa

Edward Taggart

Dear Lisa:
I'm so sorry my great Uncle Ed didn't turn out to be the one you are hunting for. My only suggestion would be to just keep posting messages on as many BBs as you can and hope for a member of the right family to see it. The only other Edward Taggart in my family was born in the 1840's on the Isle of Man and would be WAY too old to be your Edward Taggart. Good luck in your search.

Hi! I don't even know if one can reply to an archived post but I'm going to try. I am researching a "Scott" surname line and I believe that your Adelaide Scott Rawls is the daughter of my 3greatgranduncle,Persickless Scott of Lexinton KY(c. 1808-1897). Do you have any information on his parents? His mother I know was a woman named Nancy Scott but not sure who his father was. Thank you!

Well, good news and bad news. Good news is that this thread is still active, and I got your inquiry! Bad news is that I can't help you much.
Aunt Adelaide was married to my great uncle, Edward Taggrt, and she is not a direct line for me. My family is pretty huge, and so I haven't yet had time to dig into the "married-ins" that are not direct ancestors. One day, I'll get around to it. Meanwhile, I think you are on the right track, and Ancestry.com has a wealth of information that you can track down. If I run across anything to help you, I'll be sure to let you know. I'll check with some of my 2nd cousins who are her grandchildren.

Good Luck!! Bitsy Fitzsimmons
