thank you for all your help, this is definately interesting. Now that you mentioned salem/danvers mass do you know when the witch trials were and if there was any family involvement? Do you know what ann (wife of thomas flint) maiden name was? I never imagined my family history went back this far without leaving the united states yet. thank you. also do you know where the connecticut corners cemetary is in braintree? there is a memorial that was erected by the family of william flint, it is on the land of stanley chamberlain. I found this out by looking through a copy of History of braintree the second edition. the book says that the family of william Flint were supposed to care for this memorial I would like to visit it if it is still in existence.

Allen Hovey FLINT, b. January 2, 1834; m. (1) May 8, 1856 Ann E. ADAMS, formerly of Williamstown, who d. November 18, 1856; m. (2) March 17, 1859, Rosette A. BLANCHARD; (More on children if desired.)
He was the son of Hovey FLINT b. April 20, 1807; m. March 21, 1833, Sarah SPEAR; d. January 28, 1880 (more on SPEAR if desired.
Hovey FLINT was the son of William FLINT b. Hampton Conn., April 29, 1769; m. Patty RANDALL; settled in Braintree in 1803; d. 1850.
William FLINT, son of Nathaniel, Jr. FLINT b. September 5, 1720; m. twice; last time, July 3, 1751, Mary HOVEY who was born in Hampton, Conn., May 15, 1726; he d. January 1795, and in the summer of 1803 Mrs. Flint moved to Braintree, where she d. September 30, 1807. Of 13 children, 4 settled in Braintree, viz: Jonathan, Phineas, Daniel and William.
Nathaniel Jr., son of Nathaniel FLINT b. December 11, 1688; settled in Hampton, Conn., about 1716; d. June 3, 1766.
Nathaniel FLINT was son of Joseph who was b. 1662; m. August 6, 1685 Abigail HOWARD; lived in Salem, Mass., and d. 1710.
Joseph was son of Thomas FLINT, settled at Salem Village (now South Danvers) Mass. perhaps as early as 1640. His wife's name was Ann. He had 7 children, of whom John and Joseph are the progentors of the Flints who have lived in Braintree, Orange, VT. (Bass, Hist. of Braintree, VT.)

1. Solomon HOLMAN, b. in England, was pressed on board a man-of-war; the vessel touched the American coast, and he escaped and settled in Mass.
2. Solomon, son of Solomon, b. at Newburyport, Mass., Novembe 25, 1697; settled in Suttion, Mass.; m. Mary _____; d. April 17, 1785.
3. Col. Jonathan, son of Solomon, Jr., b. at Sutton, Mass., in 1733; lived in the part of Sutton that is now Millbury; was an officer in the Revolutionary war; he had his brother Daniel were two of the proprietors of Braintree, and Col. Jonathan helped to survey the town and lay out the rights, but never resided in Braintree; d. February 25, 1814.
4. Solomon, son of Col. Jonathan, b. in Millvury (Sutton) Mass., May 24, 1766; m. May 1, 1793, Sally MANN; moved to Braintree; d. November 26, 1862; his first child was
5. Sally, b. August 24, 1794; m. June 15, 1815, Amasa BLANCHARD.

Rosette A., BLANCHARD b. July 24, 1838 m. March 17, 1859, Allen H. FLINT. Rosette was the 11th child of Amasa BLANCHARD, b. July 12, 1792; m. June 15, 1815 Sally HOLMAN who was b. August 25, 1795 and d. February 25, 1875; settled in Braintree, Orange County, VT soon after marriage. Amasa was the son of Barnard BLANCHARD b. at Worcester, MA July 12, 1774; m. Phebe YOUNG of Worcesster; d. November 28, 1857. Only one of his children (Amasa) settled in Braintree. (Bass, H. Royce, History of Braintree, VT, Braintree Hist. Soc., 1988; original ed. 1883) The FLINT section of the book is huge and no index - still looking for Allen.

Daniel Hale Flint b. Dec. 13, 1863 was the 5th child of Daniel Flint, b. Feb. 19, 1826; m. March 9, 1854, Sarah E. Linfield. Other children of Daniel and Sarah (Linfield) Flint were Lora May, Charles Fremont, Flora Elizabeth, Flora Minnie, Sherwin Martin, Irving Adams, and Marion Linfield. I see no wife or children listed for Daniel Hale Flint, but that is not unusual if he left Braintree, VT before marriage.
Daniel Flint (1826) was son of Nathaniel (b. February 29, 1796) who m. April 5, 1821 Polly Nichols;
Nathaniel (1796) was son of Daniel b. Hampton Conn, Dec. 7, 1761; m. Elizabeth Martin who was b. December 24, 1761 and d. October 24, 1804.
Nathaniel (1761) was son of Nathaniel Jr. b. September 5, 1720 & his 2nd wife, Mary Hovey whom he m. July 3, 1751 and who was b. in Hampton Conn. May 15, 1726.
Nathaniel Jr. was son of Nathaniel b December 11, 1688 who was son of Joseph b. December 11, 1688 and Abigail Howard, who was son of Thomas the immigrant who settled at Salem Village. Sure hope this is your Daniel.
