Alexander Boyd, born Glascow, Scotland 8/16/1746. Immigrated to Mecklenburg County, VA. died 8/11/1801 in Mecklenburg County. Buried in Family Cemetery in town of Boydton, the county seat of Mecklenburg. He married Ann Swepson on 3/24/1768.
They had 11 children, one of which was Alexander Boyd, Jr(this is likely the one your query was about). He was born 3/2/1773 in Mecklenburg County and died there 5/28/1836.
He married Matilda Burwell and had 14 children, one of which was named Alexander Spotswood Boyd, born 1819 in Mecklenburg and died there 5/26/1896. Married Nannie Ham, both are buried in St.James Episcopal Church Cemetery, Boydton, VA. Boydton is named after the first Alexander Boyd, was orginally Boyd Town and later shortened to Boydton.
