Mrs. Josie Knifley, of the Knifley section, died at 2:30 o’clock Sunday morning at her home following a long illness. She was 72 years old. Mrs. Knifley was born December 17, 1860, in Casey County, daughter of the late John Lewis and Nancy Marple Bland. She was one of the beloved citizens of the community in which she resided and was a faithful member of the Christian church. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Goode, of Knifley, Mrs. Kirby Simpson, of this county, and Mrs. Pearl Bottoms, of Illinois; two sons, Virgil Knifley, of Illinois, and Asure Knifley, at home; four sisters, Mrs. J. H. Tucker, Mrs. Ida Bland, Mrs. J. H. Wooley, of this county, and Mrs. Janie Marple, of Columbia; and five brothers, George Bland, of Illinois, William Bland, of Kansas, Evan Bland, of Missouri, Harlan Bland, of Casey Creek, and Allen Bland, of Casey County.
