As you can tell, I posted a couple of days ago. Zero answers to an Orpanage in Addison. Does anyone know of an orphanage at all in DuPage County?

There was a Lutheran Orphanage in Addison. On the existing censuses the orphans, and other live in residents are listed together, usually at the end of Addison Township, DuPage County. There is still some kind of Lutheran Home there. Contact the Addison Historical Society 131 West Lake Street, Addison, IL 60101. Or The DuPage County Historical Society 102 E. Wesley st., Wheaton, IL 60187.

Larry,

My maternal grandmother was at an orphanage in Addison, IL around 1925/26. If I get any more information, I can send it to you.

There was an orphanage in Addison Illinois. It was later turned into the town hall. It was recently demolished to put up a new village building. I worked in the police department adjacent to it for a couple of years.
The old orphanage was at 131 W. Lake in Addison... Which conveniently is where the Records Department is located. Good Luck!

There was an orphanage in Addison. It was the Evangelical Lutheran Orphan Asylum, founded in 1873. Also the Kinderheim. Closed in the '50's. 3 page article on it in The Review of the DuPage County Genealogical Society, Nov 2000. Send your address and I'll send you a copy of the article, if you would like.
