Hi,
Can someone help clear up some foggy areas regarding the above address. My great grandmother has this address on her bc in 1881. I always thought it was a workhouse/hospital. Now it seems a few years later it was a homosexual brothel ?? This is where the connection between royals, MPs and postal boys were meant to have caused a scandal. Was it a private house or workhouse? can someone help clear this up please.

The one in Marylebone looks like a private house

Thanks for your help, I always thought Marylebone but maybe it could be St. Pancs. The census however shows the right names for her parents and brother, so this is the most likely place.
Appreciate all your help.

The Marylebone Cleveland Street and the Pancras one are the same street - the boundary between the two districts is about halfway down. No. 19 is at the Marylebone End.
