My grandmother was Ella Tuning. Her siblings were Annie, Warren, Harry and Elba.
Her father was William Tuning, born, in West Virginia, between 1861-1863. I'm looking for information on William and his wife. I found a census that states he was a widower, at the time.
The first three children were born in WV, Ella was born in OH, and Elba was born in PA. I haven't been able to find any other records on William.

Any info. is greatly appreciated.

What county in WV do you think your William was born and what census did you find him?

There is no William Tuning listed at the WV Archives birth records that are on line.

My Grandfather's name was Charles Elba Tuning. He married my Grandmother Margaret. I found their marriage license and discovered his father's name was William and his mother's name was Jane Morris. They were married in West Virginia in 1925 and my mother grew up in Pennsylvania. Is this the same family?

The marriage license says that his birthplace was Mt. Pleasant Pennsylvania and his residence was Cool Springs PA. He was 35 when they married in 1925 and it says his occupation was minor.

It sounds like we may be related!

My father was Charles Elba Hollihan, son of Ella Tuning who was William's daughter.

I can't remember what census I looked at, but I did find one
in which William and his children were listed. His wife was listed as deceased. (It might have been PA). Anyway, Elba was the youngest child of William. Ella,(my grandmother was 12 years old. The other siblings were Harold, Warren and Annie. I did know my Great Uncle Warren and Great Aunt Annie.

Thank you so much for this info!
