Notes for THOMAS ZACHARIAH HINTON:
The home of Thomas Zachariah Hinton was built of hewn logs about 1808 in Abbeville, South Carolina.
In 1862, Thomas Z. Hinton and his family moved to Florida.
His move was perhaps prompted by the desire to be near his children who has emigrated to "The Land of Flowers," some years before.
He settled in Taylor County, Florida, just across the Madison line and in the same vicinity as his daughter Nancy and her husband James Patrick Martin.
Here he built his home and cleared sufficient land to cultivate some crops.
He soon became dissatisfied in Florida and longed to return to his old home and friends in South Carolina.
Before he could complete his plans for his return, he died suddenly and was buried in the Old Walker Cemetery, in the south western part of Madison County, Florida.
Thomas Zachariah Hinton, in his religious view, was a Universalist, being one of the organizers of the first church of this denomination in Abbeville during the early 1830's.
