HENRY STEWART LANGTRY..married 29th April, 1912 at St Matthias' Church, Paddington by Rev. S G Fielding, this information found Sydney Morning Herald, Page 8, Col. 1, "Marriages" it also states "Henry was the son of Charles Langtry, of Southern, Haunts., and Mary Isabel, youngest daughter of the late Joseph Woollams, of Adelong, NSW"
according to my husband's aunty (Nora Hartigan nee Woollams)
Henry walked out on Mary and left her to raise all 7 children
on her own down in Burragorang Valley.
I too would like to know more of his details and those of his parents.
The only reference I have found of a Henry is in the "United
Kingdom Chelsea Pension Service Records" of 1790 - 1913
"Henry Stuart Langtry - born Aberdeenshire circa 1882"

MARY ISABEL WOOLLAMS was born 24th Dec., 1883 Mackie Creek, Adelong NSW daughter of Joseph Woollams and Ellen Maxwell.
Her headstone at Wellington Cemetery, C/E Section Row Q, =
MARY ISOBEL LANGTRY died 9th Dec., 1950, aged 68"
like wise the NSW Death index 1951/6859 Wellington her parents were recoded as Joseph and Hellen.

Not been able to find him in any shipping records "IN" or "OUT".

Adele,

I have more data on Henry now. Ship in Osterly, arrived 5 Jan 1911. He died 1963 Surrey, 5g 170.
My wife's mother is Helen, their first child. I only have 6 children listed to them.
Email me on nca23998@bigpond.net.au to swap data.

Also, check his Australian War records, he was dismissed as unfit for service, joined navy lasted days before they found out about him, rejoined army and he was reposted to fight and served before they caught up with him again

I can’t see a birth in Belfast for Henry Stewart Langtry, nor a marriage for his parents. This is the only Sarah Langtry I can see in the 1901 census who is old enough to be a mother of a child born in 1881.

Many thanks for the information. I got his birth as Belfast from his marriage certificate, his Arrival doc, and his Army records. Marriage cert also gave parents names and fathers occupation as soldier.
Could it be he did not want to state his birth as India? Was there any stigma attached to that back then as I have found another who did same thing?

Can't see why being born in India would have any stigma. Have not come across that before.
