My great-great-grandmother, Rose Holmes Powell, was a resident in the home of her brother-in-law Jacob Kelch and his wife Mary Ann "Mollie" Holmes in 1920 in Fairmount, Fillmore Co, NE. Can anyone shed any light on this family please. I have a photo that I believe to be Rose, Mollie, their sister Elizabeth Barton and their mother. I have other information to share.

Did Jacob and Mary Ann have a daughter Maggie b. 3-24-1897? If so, she married my great great grandfather's brother George Harry Perkins (went by Harry). I was at the Fairmont Cemetery a month or so ago and have a picture of Harry and Maggie's Tombstone. Jen

Jacob and Mary did indeed have a daughter Maggie.I don't have an exact birthdate for her, I am sure it could have been 1897. I was sent some information from a Fillmore Co history that shows her husband as George H. Perkins. I would be pleased to have any information you are willing to share concerning this family. Did they have children?

I have a photo that I believe is Mary "Mollie" Holmes Kelch, her two sisters and her mother. My great-great-grandmother Rose Holmes Powell was Mollie's sister. I wish I could help further John, but my interest lies in Jacob Kelch's wife, Mary Ann "Mollie" Holmes Kelch. She is the sister of my great-great-grandmother. Therefore I haven't had to research back in the Kelch family ... just interested in Jacob and Mollie's descendants.

I'll be spending Christmas afternoon in Fairmont and my uncle has lots of info on his bookshelves although he's never been a huge genealogist so maybe I can find some info for you Wednesday. You mentioned that your Kelch line may have come to NE from Iowa or Illinois. I believe the Kelch surname has popped up as I've researched other Fillmore county surnames of mine that came from Carroll County, IL. YOu might check out their genwebsite. The Carroll County Historical society has a lot of info from their churches online. I can't be sure but I think I saw some Kelchs there. I'll see what I can find out in a couple of days as well! Jen

Thanks, Jennifer. I found a bunch of stuff on the Kelches later today (bunch of 'em buried in Geneva) and I'm thinking they are somehow related to the Joseph Kelch who m. my Gertrude Stewart & lived around there (Fillmore, Thayer, etc.).
Also found some in Fairmont census reports.

John, the Kelch's buried in Geneva are relatives of mine. My Granparents, John Peter Kelch and Ida Grace (Cooksey) Kelch are buried there also.
