FARMERS BRIDGE-SURNAME FARMER

Hi,

My great great grandmother was Sarah Farmer. She married Peter Griffin. I've found some children from this marriage, but, not my great grandfather Thomas who was supposedly born in 1855/6. Anyone searching the Farmers or Griffins of Farmers Bridge?

Not personally searching for these names but thought this might help you.

I believe that www.irishgenealogy.ie is the only on line baptism and marriage records for Kerry.
Margaret Griffin, fa: Peter Griffin mo: Sarah Farmer born
9 June 1872.

Kerry is 1 of only 4 counties that do not have membership in a History Foundation with baptism and marriages. There are
some records on:
www.censusfinder.com United Kingdom+Ireland+Kerry
www.igp-web.com

Griffith Valuation took place in Kerry 1852:

Peter Griffin, Parish Ballyheige, Town land Ballyheige
Union Tralee, tenant of Pierce Crosbie Esq.Reps(Parliament)
property
1e house and garden 1 acres 1 roods 9 perches

Peter Griffin, Parish of Ballynahaglish, Townland Tawlagh
Union Tralee, tenant of Robert Parker
13b house

Thomas Griffin same as above 10c house and garden 0.0.15

Johanna Griffin, tenant of Patrick Sullivan
1e house and garden 0.0.8

There are two Peter's as there are two houses, if one was rented out it might be 1 person.

Thomas Griffin would possibly be a brother to Peter or perhaps father whom Thomas was named after.

Ballyheigue/Ballyheigh Parish 10 mi. n.n.w. of Tralee 1837 population 3,766. Church of Ireland records are lost.
Ballyheigue records start 1857.From 1863 became part of the Listowel Registration District.

Parish Ballynahaglish 5 1/2 mi. w from Tralee, in 1837 population 2,883. Diocese of Ardfert & Aghadoe

Civil Registrations:

Philip Griffin born 9 April 1867 Kilgobban, Kerry
Fa: Peter Griffin Mo: Sarah Farmer LDS#101149

Michael Griffin born 5 Sept 1869 #646 Kilgobban, Kerry
Fa: Peter Griffin Mo: Sarah Farmer, #LDS #101194

Prior to 1864 all would be Parish records.

The telephone book for Kerry shows many Griffin's but you should be able to find the ones either close to Tralee or Listowel (Union - villages,Parishes within 12 mi. radius)
I saw 1 Griffin for sure in Listowel, only 2 Farmers listed.

I notice Curious Fox (a village contact site) has a reference for Farmers Bridge, Tralee.

Traveling Luck has a sattelite map of the area.
