I am searching for the descendants of Elizabeth (nee Wade) and Dennis Sweeney, from Montserrat. Many family members have since moved to the US and the UK. Elizabeth and Dennis were my great-great grandparents on my mothers side. Please contact me if you have any information you THINK I might be able to use.

Surnames: O'Farrill
I am a descendant of Richard O'Farrill O'Daly, born in Killlcleigh, Ireland, and was married to Catherine O'Daly (if the information is correct) in Quincelet, Montserrat. Their son, Richard O'Farrill O'Daly , b. about 1690 went to Cuba, where the 11 of Nov. 1720 he married Maria Josefa de Arriola who had been married previously. The name O'Farrill is connected with sugar plantations and with the slave trade. He died 5 June 1730, leaving at least three sons.

I have information on some of his Irish ancestors, and on some of his Cuban descendants. I have a list of his presumed ancestors as far back as Donald O'Farrill , born after 1450 in Glin, County Longford, Ireland. Is this the family you are interested in?

I am an amateur Caribbean historian whose father taugt the subject at U of the Virgin Islands. My family knows some Farrells and I have definitely heard of the Cuban O'Farrills. I hadn't realized that the O'Farrills had passed though Montserrat. It is possible that they are the same family. For most West Indian families it is difficult to sort out recent ancestors, poor record keeping and lots of 'natural children'. Unlike the US most colored people with a particular surname are descended from Europeans with the same surname. I don't know if you will be able to prove a connection but it is a possibility.

Surnames: O'Garra
Hi! I noticed O'Garra, specifically with double 'r'. This is the name of my paternal grandmother, Elizabeth O'Garra, from Widnes, Lancashire, England. Her family originated from Co.Clare, Ireland, and there was a branch in Co. Kerry.
I hope this is of some use to you. There are also O'Garras living in Halifax, West Yorkshire and these are my father's first cousins. We all follow the Irish Catholic religion and all have very thick black eyebrows!
Kindest regards
Adele Spencer

i don't know if i'm barking up completely the wrong tree but i have been interested in looking up my family tree for some time. when i finally got access to the internet the first thing i typed in was genealogy and the name TUITT (my mothers, mothers, father - EVELYN LEOFRIC TUITT) because it was the least common of my family names i thought i was most likely to find somebody related. I was absolutely astonished when it came up straight away with the 1891 cencus for Moreton in Marsh giving the following information:
High St
102
ROLPH Thomas 28, Coal Dealer, Moreton in Marsh
Mary 24, Midwife, Kent Woolwich
TUITT Alwyn Isadore, Stepson 11, apprentice, Campden Town
Alain Berthwold Stepson 5, Lewisham
EVELYN LEOFRIC Stepson 4, Lewisham

can you tell me any more? are any of these related to your Tuitt line?

Victoria,

I am most interested in your message. My Mum-in-laws Grandad's name was Evelyn Leofric TUITT and there can't be too many of those around can there?

Could you please contact me on wenwen@ntlworld.com
I've only just started to research this line of the family.
