Emma Mae (Apfel) Messinger

Emma Mae Apfel Messinger entered into rest October 10, 2007.
She was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, where she was born April 15, 1924. Emma was one of a large family, with two surviving sisters, both of New Orleans.

During the past three decades in Lake Jackson, TX, Emma was
active in church and civic affairs. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, a docent at the Lake Jackson Museum, a former garden club member and a sponsor of the AARP Senior Citizens Drivers Education Program. A memorial service honoring her memory is planned for Tuesday, October 16, at 2:00 p.m., with a reception following at First Presbyterian Church, Lake Jackson, TX.

Wesley Creel passed away at his home here Wednesday morning at 8 O'clock and was laid to rest in the Old Handsboro Cemetery by G. H. Grice of Ocean Springs. Mr. Creel was an old citizen of this place and a member of the Methodist Church and was a good Christian. He leaves a wife and several children and a large number of grandchildren. The friends here extend their heart-felt sympathy to the bereaved family.

Mrs. Catherine Creel, 82 years and 7 months old and widow of C. W. Creel, died at her home in Handsboro last night at 8 O'clock. She was born June 20, 1853, and had been a life long resident of Handsboro. Surviving her are four sons, R. Creel, New Orleans; and Ole, Archie and Nicholas Creel, Handsboro; and four daughters, Mrs. H. Kebler, Hattiesburg, and Mrs. T. B. Bailey, Mrs. O. J. Ware and Mrs. Elisabeth Ware, Handsboro. Funeral services were held at the Handsboro Methodist Church this afternoon at 3
O'clock, Rev. Roy Wolfand, Rev. Percy Vaughn Methodist pastors officiating. Burial was in the Handsboro Cemetery.
[note] this is Catherine Nicholas, daughter of Morgan Nicholas, widow of her first cousin Wesley Creel, son of Charles Collin Creel and Lucinda Nicholas Creel, sister of Morgan.

Mrs. Julianne Switzer, 74 years and six months died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Vernon Switzer at Fernwood, Tuesday afternoon at 3 O'clock. She was the widow of G. W. Switzer who died Wednesday of last week. Mrs. Switzer was ill at the time of her husband's death. She was born July 14 1856. The family was one of the oldest in the Fernwood Neighborhood. Surviving Mrs. Switzer are four daughters and three sons. The daughters are Mrs. Nora Cruthirds, Mrs. D. D. Cruthirds, Mrs. Ben Sumrall, and Mrs. Vernon
Switzer and the sons are Fred Switzer, G. W. Switzer Jr, and H. E. Switzer. Mrs. Switzer will be laid at the side of her husband in Handsboro Cemetery. Mr. Gordon A. Switzer, 70, of Gulfport, Harrison County, MS, died Thursday, April 6, 2006, in Gulfport. Mr. Switzer was a native and lifelong resident of Gulfport. He was a U. S. Army Veteran and retired from Ingall's Shipbuilding as a sheet metal supervisor. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Switzer was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Artie (Allen) Switzer; two sisters, Isabelle Skinner and Ruby Dobson, and three brothers, Julien Switzer, Harold Switzer and Dick Switzer. Survivors include his wife, Betty Switzer, of Gulfport; one daughter, Joy Switzer, of Ocean Springs; one son, Grover Switzer and his wife, Tina, of Ocean Springs; three sisters, Lou Walker of D'Iberville, Ruth Beard of Gulfport, and Elsie Freeman of St. Martin, and two grandchildren, Leslie Switzer and Chaise
Switzer of Ocean Springs. Funeral services will be held Monday,
April 10, 2006, at 12 noon at the Pass Road Chapel of
Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi where friends may from 11 a. m. until service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.

Irene A. Meyers, age 86, of Harahan, Louisiana, passed away of natural causes at Ochsner Foundation Hospital, on September 3, 2005. She joinedher loving husband of 40 years, John C. Meyers who predeceased
her. Irene was born on December 21, 1918 in New Orleans, LA and was the daughter of Edward Apfel and Eleanor Creel Apfel. She was the beloved mother of Linda M.
Robinson of Wilmer, Alabama and David J. Meyers of New Orleans, LA. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Garrett H. Chase of Point Clear, AL, Gillian H. O'Daniel of Fairhope, AL and John S. Hixon of Mobile, AL. At her request, but delayed due to a very devastating Hurricane Katrina, a private Graveside Service
was held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in St. Rose, LA on September 20, 2005, where she was laid to rest next to her beloved husband, John. Together Forever.

I believe I have heard that name in our neighbourhood. I live on the outskirts of an Amish community in Ontario. There are at least three Amish with dwarfism in this area that I have seen. I can't recall the fellow's first name but I believe he is the only Amish fellow in our area to own a pig because he likes his bacon in the mornings.

I am looking for any information on a Joseph Earl Wesley born 6/8/1892 and died 2/26/1962 in Zeeland,Michigan. He was married to a Crystal G. Showers born 4/10/1894 and died 1/28/1971 in Fremont,MI, his father's name is Charles Wesley born 9/19/1862 and died 6/25/1945 and his mothers Lucinda J. Ross Wesley born 7/19/1860 and died 6/15/1929 in Lawrenceville,IL

I am also looking for any information on Charles Wesley too, he may have changed his name from Feightner in Ohio to just Charles Wesley not sure. He was a marshall in Winslow,IN in the late 1890's and went to prison 4/1899 to 1901 I have his prison record. He married a Lucinda J. Ross 8/1886.
