Researching my maternal family.
My mother Vera Mary Foster (nee Ivens) born August 1914 in Oxfordshire, England, Her Mother (my Grandmother)was Mary E (Elizabeth?)Ivens of Banbury (or surrounds) born about 1885 and died about 1980. Vera had 5 brothers and sisters - Gerald, John, Constance and 2 others. I don' know the name of my Grandfather only that he was known as "The Gaffer".
Any leads on this Ivens family from Oxfordshire would be appreciated.

Rick,

I saw your message and was intrigued.

In my search I have come across 3 main stream of Ivens in England.
1. The Swinbrook, Oxfordshire contingent which are traceable back to about 1720. I have a lot of the detail here.

2. The Warwickshire Ivens. Warwickshire is very close to Oxfordshire and it is well possible that Robert Ivens (Swinbrook) came from Warwickshire, but I have yet to find the exact link. I am in contact with some descendants of this family so we may find your ancestors yet.

3. I gather there is another group based in Sussex but I haven't explored that fully yet.

My family is the Swinbrrok lot. and they are traceable through to the Portuguese connection and via the Azores.

I shall look more closely at the charts to see if I can find anything which resembles the information you have supplied and get back to you.

I am sure we can find something for you.

All the best,

Regards

Ivens

Hello Rick,
You have an interesting collection of Ivens family.
My recollection is that my Grandfather John Henry Ivens
(b:circa 1870 d:1947) had a daughter Eva Eleanor, (my mother b:1900 d:1997) their family background was from Chipping Norton where an aunt lived, they moved over to Wales where my mother was born in Pontypridd district. Grandfather was part of the famous Welsh Revival, and we still have a contingent of Ivens families in the area of Trealaw, and Pen y Graig.
We wonder if you can add any details to our search.
Look forward to hearing from you.
